I grew up in Massachusetts uninterested in baseball. In 2001 my then-boyfriend got me interested in the Mariners, and when we broke up, I moved back to Massachusetts in March of 2003 all newly interested in baseball and ready to get to know the team of my youth. You may remember how that went. ;)
In 2006 I moved to Michigan to live with my girlfriend, and got to know the Tigers, since they were right there on my local cable all the time, plus having frequent access to two NL teams (the Cubs on WGN in addition to the Braves on TBS) and not being quite so crazy about the Tigers as the Red Sox (and thus being willing to miss a Tigers game to watch an interesting one on ESPN) meant I started to get to know more about the MLB as a whole. Last year, I sprung for Extra Innings, and my intention to see more of the Red Sox, who I'd missed terribly in 2007 even as I was learning about the rest of the league, turned into just watching baseball like a fiend. I also got a little hooked on the Brewers, thanks to making friends with a fan during the offseason.
So here I am now, a Red Sox fan in Tigers territory who's kind of in love with the NL Central. Basically, I just think baseball is awesome, full of great stories on the personal and team level, over the course of a career, a season, or a single game.
My particular area of interest besides the teams I've lived near and the NL Central in general is pitching, pitchers, a side order of catchers and especially personal catchers, and more pitching and pitchers.
I'm from Minnesota and I've been a baseball fan since 1987. I was long a fan of the sport in general rather than just one team, but I've chosen to follow the Brewers since 2007. (I tried following them from 1989-1992, but not living in Milwaukee before the Internet made it hard.)
I really, really, really like pitchers (and pitching) followed closely by catchers (and catching.)
I'm not sure I really grok the concept of affiliation, but I love me some Red Sox and I'm all in favor of mutual linking with other baseball communities.
Became a Mets fan in '86 because I spent the summer watching the games with my Grandfather and it was a way for us to have something to talk about (otherwise how much does a 16 year old girl who likes dancing have in common with an 80 year old ex-warehouse worker). Been getting my heart broke by those boys almost every year since- especially lately- if only the season was three weeks or so shorter.
Married me another Met fan and we're raising two more. We also get out to Trenton Thunder games (Yankee minor team) since they're in our backyard.
I have understood the infield fly rule three times in my life, but that only tends to last about a day before I can't comprehend it again. *is pitiful* But I'll keep trying.
